Vx tech called me back and said that they have a 'checklist to follow when doing diagnostics - which as I pointed out I wasn't told when I booked the car in ! I was told it was £80.00 for a diagnotic booking, and we WILL find the problem with your car and report back to you before fixing. Well they did call, but to tell me that after 2 hours of looking they still had no idea what it was, and asking me to authorise another £80 worh of diagnostic labour - Which I agreed to as I felt I had no choice really.
They then came back with their recommendation of the inlet manifold gasket (99% sure !!), or throttle unit, and commented underneath saying could even be timing chain !! YES they did mention the chain, but surely if I took the car in there, with a rattling chain and rough idle they would have put 2 and 2 together and investigated that route first ?? I am fuming, and have opened a case with Head office - don't know what good it will do !
The vx tech said if it was his car, given that I wasnt driving it along when the chain went - just tried to start it on the drive and it went - then damage should be minimal, and he would advise taking the cover off, and if no valves visibly bent then put a new chain on and see if I've got away with it - just wondering what you technical guys would think of doing that ?
Also can anyone tell me where Benny is in the country ? may need his help to fix lol
Thanks 😃
