Dual mass flywheel failing

My z22se dual mass flywheel is on its way out ..... we think , its been to 2 local garages 1 said flywheel and another said he didnt think it was but had no idea what it was this is the problem

On accelertion the car feels like it is vibrating , all gears engage , pulls like it always has done , stops when clutch is depressed or in neteral , not there when coasting , no noise when depressing clutch ,

been quoted £495 for fly wheel and £220 fitting

other garage said maybe driveshaft ??

just wondered if anyone around fits these flywheels on the cheap ?? also seen lightened flywheels for sale for about £230 + vat , these any good ?

is it worth fitting second hand flywheel £120 ?

any help would be great car is 2.2 sxi 2002 vectra c z22s3 engine manual 5sp

fitting a flywheel isnt too bad but your probably going to have to take the engine out.
a lot of people are running on the lightened flywheels, you shoulkd be able to get a one piece to fit.
if its an 8 hole pattern flywheel i have a dxf with the pcd's drawn up on it (they are on a awkward uneven offset pcd) if the flywheel supplier needs it. :thumbup:

You'd need a spacer making up mate as the DMF is much thicker. Our Vec C's are the only Z22SE's fitted with DMF's. Give these guys a ring and see what they can sort you out with.

contacted them , £320 to convert my dual mass to solid , thats aloth cheaper than replacing the DMF , not sure yet if the clutch will take it thou awaiting more info back from them , will update so others in my situation no there is a way out te horrible DMF expense

They quoted me about the same price for a new clutch, there just off the Motorway about 2 miles from Leeds City Centre so easy to find. They seam to have a very good reputation.

i'm gonna send the DMF to them for them to make a solid one for me a "1 off" they said then send them both back to me

from what i saw from mine, dmf's screw the clutches.
when i swapped engines i used the z22se (80k) clutch as it was twice the thickness of the z20net (40k) clutch with twice the mileage!
the mrs old man went down the same road on his vw sharan.

ok , the problems continue ,
took it to a another local garage , this one specialises in gearboxes , he said deffo not DMF , couldnt say what it was without booking it in but he thinks drive shaft or something else , he took the car out for a drive and listened into the gearbox and surrounfding areas whilst i engaged gears with the front end off the floor , to say he didnt charge and i have never met the bloke seems like a honest guy.
He did advise buying a warrent for thecar so if it turns out to be expensive then i will be covered as he said about timming chains on these engines are not very good , told me to go to warrenty4u or some one like that they cover wear and tear , looked into it and its £260 for top cover for a year , might be going down that route and then just drive the car till it stops lol at lest then i will no whats up

Been having issues with various cars in work tha thave had solid flywheel convsersion done, and they have been killing the gearboxs, so we dont bother fitting conversion kits anymore.

vw recommended a single piece but i suppose its a different beast

Should be ok in the F23 though wouldnt it as the Vec B 2.2 has a solid flywheel???

mines had a solid flywheel for nearly 2 years and its fine.(and i havent spared the horses) t
he z20net was dual mass so i threw that bollocks away.

out come to the above problem for those who may be in the same situation , the inner cv joint on the o/s drive shaft was loosing the will to live , all the grease had left the gator but was no spillage on the car however the garage that replaced suggested it had already had a new cv kit fitted and they think althou cannot be sure that it was fitted with out any grease in it !!!

So second hand drive shaft complete with all cv joiints checked , £60 , labour £50 job done !! NO VAT bonus
