Instructions for removing the carpets:
Tools needed
Socket set
10mm socket
T20 torx
T40 torx (For use with a socket)
T50 torx (For use with a socket)
Stanley Knife
Strong Scissors (but not needed as you can use the Stanley knife)
Step by Step
Drivers Side
1) Slide drivers seat back
2) Under front edge of seat pull back plastic of electrics
3) Cut the zip tie holding the wire
4) Pull the brown area around the plug out
5) You will now be able to pull the plug out
6) Undo the two 10mm bolts holding the electrics on
7) Remove the two T40 torx bolts hold the front of the seat down
8) Slide seat forward and hinge seat forward
9) Remove to rear T40 torx bolts
10) Lift drivers seat out
11) At the bottom of the drivers seat belt undo the T50 torx bolt that hold the bar
12) Lift the bar up vertical and pull the bar out, when out about 1 inch, rotate it towards you and the bar should then come out of the body of the car
13) Pull the black plastic circle out that the seat belt bar went through
14) Just above where the seat belt bar was remove the T20 torx screw
15) Grab the plastic sill cover and pull it out where the T20 was and up all the way along
16) Below the steering wheel on the front edge of the dash remove the two T20 screws
17) Pull the cover down and then out
18) To the left of the footwell by the bonnet release undo the 10mm nut and remove plastic panel
19) To the right of the footwell remove the T20 screw in the middle of the plastic panel (the panel will not come out yet)
20) Look up under the pedals, you will see three grey plastic circles, These hold the carpet and soundproofing up, unscrew them (the third one is high up)
21) Remove the T20 screw at the front of the centre console
22) Remove the T20 screw at the back (other end) of the centre console
Passengers Side
1) Slide Passengers seat back
2) Under front edge of seat pull back plastic of electrics
3) Cut the zip tie holding the wire
4) Pull the brown area around the plug out
5) You will now be able to pull the plug out
6) Undo the two 10mm bolts holding the electrics on
7) Remove the two T40 torx bolts hold the front of the seat down
8) Slide seat forward and hinge seat forward
9) Remove to rear T40 torx bolts
10) Lift passengers seat out
11) At the bottom of the passengers seat belt undo the T50 torx bolt that hold the bar
12) Lift the bar up vertical and pull the bar out, when out about 1 inch, rotate it towards you and the bar should then come out of the body of the car
13) Pull the black plastic circle out that the seat belt bar went through
14) Just above where the seat belt bar was remove the T20 torx screw
15) Grab the plastic sill cover and pull it out where the T20 was and up all the way along
16) Below the glove box on the front edge of the dash remove the two T20 screws
17) Open the glove box and remove the two T20 screws
18) Pull the glove box out and remove
19) Below where the glove box was is the panel under the dash, pull it down and out
20) To the right undo the 10mm nut and remove plastic panel
21) To the left of the footwell remove the T20 screw in the middle of the plastic panel (the panel will not come out yet)
22) Near the left panel is a grey plastic circle, unscrew it
23) Remove the T20 screw at the front of the centre console
24) Remove the T20 screw at the back (other end) of the centre console
Centre Console
1) Pull on the plastic around the bottom of the gear stick gaitor and lift up
2) Pull on the plastic around the bottom of the hand brake gaitor and lift up
3) Remove rear ash tray (at the back of the centre console)
4) Release hand brake (if on a hill chock wheels and put in gear)
5) Remove four 10mm nuts that hold the hand brake down and lift hand brake up off the retaining bolts
6) Lift rear of centre console up and feed hand brake and gaitor through
7) Continue to lift centre console up and feed gear stick and gaitor through
8) Disconnect wire connected to the 12V socket (just in front of the gear stick)
9) The centre console should now be free to lift away
10) Remove the plastic panel to the left of the drivers footwell that you took the screw out of earlier
11) Remove the plastic panel to the right of the passengers footwell that you took the screw out of earlier
12) Just in front of the gear stick you will see the carpet and underlay is in tacked from the drivers side to the passengers side underneath the gear linkage, pull the carpet up off the underlay around this area and cut the carpet between the the gear linkages and peel back.
13) Using a Stanley knife slice the underlay down either side of the gear linkages, so that the carpet and underlay now lift around the gearstick area ( I also used scissors here to cut the underlay)
Rear seat
14) Pull on the front of the base of the seat up and forward
15) Lift the back of the base of the seat up and towards the front of the car
16) On either side of the underside of the seat is a black bar which is just sprung into place, push the black bar towards the centre of the car and it will unclip, do the same the other side and remove the base of the rear seat ( no need to remove the back of the seat)
17) Pull the carpet up and feed around the rear pockets
Lift Carpet
1) Starting in the drivers footwell, pull the carpet out from under the pedals and pull towards the back of the car
2) Lift the drivers seat electrics up and pull the carpet back
3) Pull the rear of the drivers side carpet forward and feed the carpet over the handbrake
4) Go around to passengers side and pull the carpet in the passengers footwell up and towards the back of the car
5) Lift the passengers seat electrics up and pull the carpet back
6) Pull the rear of the passengers side carpet forward
7) You should now be able to lift the carpet out of the passengers door, It is probably very wet and hence very heavy
Soundproof removing - If the Drivers side is wet
1) Look behind clutch pedal, you will see the steering column, to the left is a narrow section of the soundproofing, cut across it using a Stanley knife
2) To the right of the drivers footwell, look up high and make a cut all the way down close to the electrics
3) Now pull the soundproofing away from under the pedals and lift out of car
Soundproof removing – If Passengers side is wet
1) Look up under the dash near the centre console, Find the top edge of the soundproofing and make a cut using a Stanley knife down to the back of the centre console
2) To the left of the passengers footwell, look up high and make a cut all the way down close to the electrics
3) Now pull the soundproofing away and lift out of car
