auto gearbox help !

I've just fitted a new engine to my vectra, z22se ,

I have just got it running and sounds great,anyway.

since fitting the engine, I now don't have any gears. the gearbox selects the gear. ie, place it in park, the car won't move, place it in reverse,the reverse lights come on etc,etc. also, once I have selected the gear, the engine revs slightly increase, and then put it back into park or neutral the revs go back to normal. but the car won't move in any gear!!

I have double cheked the connectors. and the fluid level. I made sure the torque convertor was properly keyed into the autobox when fitting. my gearbox is an F22.

do I need to maybe bleed the gearbox? if so, how do you do that?

could there be a fuse for the autobox?
is there anywhere else I need to add fluid apart from the autobox dipstick?

if not, anybody got any cheap autoboxes for sale F22.

any suggestions appreciated, this has been a nightmare since word go !

Hmm, I don't know on this one. You have a rare 2.2 with it being auto. It's probably only something electrical thats stopping it. Did the gearbox fit straight back on ok?

it fitted straight on no probs, probably because I already keyed the torque convertor.

all electrical connections are connected.

its really strange as it drove into my garage A1.

ok, I presume I have knackered the gearbox somehow,

does anyone know if the AF22 gearbox is fitted to any other car?
I got told the omega 2.5 v6 might have the same box.

the omega is rear wheel drive so the box will be differnet m8..

Is this a step-tronic box or tip-tronic or whatever its called??

I have just been in contact with a friend of mine who's a gearbox techy and he says that there should be a fuse to check. Also, have you checked your fluid levels on level ground?

He's also going to make some further enquiries tomorrow.

hi mate

its just a normal automatic box, with sports button on it, don't know what you call it !

I checked the fuse,s in the car and all seem fine.
I don't know if there is a relay for it as the haynes manual only tells you the fuses in the car and NOT any fuses or relays under the bonnet.

as I said. it selects the gear but dooesnt move ! fluis is exactly correct on level ground, and connections have been checked hundreds of times !

hi guys,

the problem with the automatic gearbox was the pump.

another £240 out of pocket !

just thought i would post incase anyone else had the same problem.
