40mb Broadband

Finally placed an order for faster broadband!

They have finished installing the Fibre to the Cabinet service in my area, and I'm VERY close to the local cabinet (less than 200ft), so should be getting pretty much 40mb.

I've been with Be* since 2007 and been very happy with the service, but there is no way I can get a speed increase due to my distance from the Exchange. I will miss having a static IP address though.

Should be set up within 30 days :thumbup:

I hate to rain down on your parade thou. Ive got 50Mb with Virgin atm with option of 100Mb if i pay a bit extra. Next year they are introducing 200Mb . . . . :silent:

I think its long overdue BT started updating their cable networks thou.

Yeah, BT have been poor, using hardware that has been in place for 40 odd years! Would be nice getting fibre to the house.

It's annoying as well, as VM have cable laid 2 streets away from ours :-(

Got my activation date for the new broadband.......Wednesday 21[sup]st[/sup] December.....so not long now!

i got offered 100mbit for 45 a month plus 150 cash back with virgin media

i am with o2 on 10 a month for 19mbit with free bt line [being an bt employee]

fttc is mainly concentrated on areas that have a poor existing infrastructure and / or not have cabled areas ]

my exchange is not even on the planning list yet lol

Will do mate. The Netgear will be going into the wife's shop, as the BT Business Hub was shit, so I stuck my Thompson in there....which Be will now want back.

DO I BUY OR LEASE THE BE BOX FROM YOU?
Members lease the BE Box from us. This means that it will need to be returned to us if you ever decide to leave BE - although we hope such a moment of madness never happens.

Because BE owns the BE Box, there is a modem non-return fee of £35.74 if you decide to keep it after your service has been terminated. If you return it within 28 days of your service being terminated there will be no charge.

However, it's doing a bloody good job in Amy's shop, and has been powered on for over 12 months, so I may just get her to buy it to keep in her shop.

All set up and activated.

The only problem I've now got, is it's a managed service, so they won't give me access to the router to configure my port forwarding. I've just ordered a block of 8 IP addresses for £3 a month so I can at least get them to configure all the port forwarding for me.
