Z22SE ECU Rewriting

Has anyone had any experience with DIY Z22SE ECU rewriting? We need a tool to write to the ECU. Have been advised that a KWP2000 unit should be able to do it but this is unconfirmed. Can these units write to the Z22SE ECU? I think its a Simtec 71 ECU if I havent been led up the garden path.

if you achieve this, you will be the first

the z22se ecu is pretty much locked, that's why the remap's can only give a couple of bhp increase

Its such a pity cause we've only just got decent remaps for the Z20LET here in Oz and even that hasnt really been through a legitimate Australian based tuner but rather people who've got in touch with people in the UK.

Oh well the search goes on!

Does anyone else have any ideas how to write to the Simtec71 ECU?

I think that Z22SE has a Ecu called GMPT E-15 , or something , i havenÂ´t heard simtec in that engine...

It gets more confusing the more I look into it

Delco GMPT-E15 with GMPT meaning General Motors Power Train

But elsewhere I've read differently.

One of the vx220 guys has a page on the Z22SE:

he says: the ECU is Delco GMPT-E15 (in Canada Delco GMPT-E16)

I heard KWP2000 mentioned too, but i have no idea if it works or not. I guess the other question is whether the software just reflashes maps from somewhere else or actually allows you to make your own map?

I heard that KWP2000 will do it but that's also where I heard that the ECU was a Simtec71 jobbie. I think that it would be write only and not tweak.
