New Track Rod Ends Now Got More Understeer

Guys i had my car jacked up the other day changing the exhaust and i noticed play in the steering which looked to be coming from worn track rod ends so i fitted a pair of new track rod ends but now the car handles like a pig :thumbdown: there's a load more understeer now than there was before and now i get what i would describe as bump steer if thats right as when you hit a cats eye or bump etc the steering gives a jolt through the steering wheel?

It pulls to the right a little but did this before the track rods ends were changed and doesn't seem to be any worse than it was before but its booked in at the weekend to have the tracking done anyway but what could be making it understeer so bad now?

Just had the car jacked up again and there's a little play in the OS wheel bearing but would the new track rod ends ake the play in the bearing feel worse and cause the understeer?

only just bought the car 3 weeks ago with a full MOT but not sure how it passed dunno.. 2 goosed track rod ends, play in the wheel bearing and a blowing exhaust :wtf: been off the road more than on it since i got it :cry:

Take your car to another garage. Any work carried out on suspension / steering componants requires alignment check. Go for 4 wheel lasor alignment. You should not suffer with any steering pull or wandering after the check. Some garages only track the one side for quickness??? was your steering wheel centred after tracking done??

not had the tracking check done yet i only fitted the new exhaust and track rod ends at the weekend just gone and its booked in for this weekend coming for the tracking check but might put it off until i get a new front wheel bearing fitted then get it checked

Just wondered why with the play taken out of the steering system the understeer has become so bad and it feels like its trying to pull the steering wheel left and right when you hit a bump or cats eye etc

Fitting the new parts may have caused this problem. Once the geometry has been checked / adjusted all should be well.

Any work carried out on steering or suspension requires a geometry check.

I upgarded my subrame ,with the washer fix, this caused my tracking to be out and steering wheel to sit off centre, i didnt move a thing???? Vectra very sensitive to any work carried out on steering . suspension :thumbup:
