tapping sound

i could do with a bit of help with this i seem to be getting a kind of tapping/ticking noise from the chain side of the engine on short runs but goes quiet after a run of about 10 miles iv had it in garage but thay gave it a flush and new oil and filter but didnt help thay said its doesnt sound like chain its the 2.2 direct

Take your auxilliary belt off and run it briefly to see if it goes quiet. Then you'll find out if the problem lies with your alternator or pulleys.
If not then the problem may simply be a worn tappet or with the chain.
It would be difficult for any of us here to diagnose it without hearing it as it could be any number of things like a worn chain tensioner or something.

thanks for that i will take the belt off ant the weekend and see if it makes a difference the funny thing is it seems to tap for a few second then goes quiet for a few then tapps again it does this all the time unless i take it a good run
