Aftermarket balance chain

Anybody had any experience with aftermarket balance chains? After a bit of research it seems that the timing chain should be VX only (so I've got a VX kit!), but I wondered what your thoughts on an eBay balance chain kit would be?

Obviously no revised parts to worry about, so maybe they'll be OK?

there was a lad on vvoc that bought an aftermarket balance chain and tbh it was crap,your better off paying that bit extra and getting vx

In that case, better off changing it for aftermarket or leaving the existing one? I can't really stretch to full VX everything and labour!

Weeey, bought this genuine one for the same price as the aftermarket ones. It was recommended on here.

If it aint rattling and everything is quiet, leave well alone. I have a 51 plate 2.2 vectra estate with 37000 miles on the clock, i drop the oil and change filter as the oil just starts to go off colour as i dont pile on the miles this could be every 6 months or so. I will seek Benny when the time comes for change, but my advise would be buy genuine parts all of the time, you pay extra but you get quality and some come back if the item fails :thumbup:

The chain is rattling, it's being changed on Sunday by Daz. I was just wondering whether it was necessary to change the balance chain too, but I am anyway.
