Boost gauge

Been looking at boost gauges rallygif

i like the looks of

I know it sounds cheap but i think i prefer the one off ebay i dont know if i can justify 110 on a boost gauge .

Whats the difference between Electrical and Mechanical gauges ? :problem:

Mechanical takes the vacuum feed from the engine straight into the back of the gauge. Electrical ones takes the vacuum feed into an electrical sender, which then connects to the gauge.

So in terms of ease of fit Electrical would surely be better as there is no vacume hose entering the dash .

i was previously thinking of going to a single DIN stereo and then fabricating a housing for a gauge there , but i think id rather have a nice double din in there.

Im guessing A pillars are a no no now ?

I'd also recommend some better hosing, as the stuff supplied is a bit thin/weak

i agree with matt on the hosing, if your under bonnet temp gets up (or in my case it runs quite close to the engine) that stuff will suck itself flat.
ive got 6bar temp roof pnumatic hosing from work a bit ott but it does the job nicely. :thumbup:

I have that eBay one and I like it. It's never going to be a quick as moving as the mechanical one but it's does the job fine on mine as it matches my dash clocks a d you can't go wrong with £20 anyway but it off there website it's cheaper and free p&p

That was the main reason I got the one I did. It matches my dash clocks, and even does the needle sweep at start up the same as my dash clocks.

New sender is already shipped, so hopefully be here tomorrow

Didn't turn up yesterday, so hopefully be here today.

While it's getting fitted, I'm going to tidy up some of the wiring and properly join the wires with solder, and not just twist together and cover in electrical tape :bag:

Yeah, I didn't do the best job when fitting it.

New sender fitted, boost gauge is still doing the same. I tried it with the sender disconnected, and it's doing the same as well, so it's looking like the gauge itself is at fault.

Have contacted them to see if I can return and exchange for a new gauge

The gauge has been fitted for more than 3 years, but I've asked the company I bought the new sender from to replace and exchange for a new gauge
