Help guys notsure.gif
I have a constant noise coming from the left side of the engine, its low down and has me stumped.
Its not a rattle as would get from the timing chain on cold start up.
It increases with revs and does sound like a dry bearing/grinding is about all i can describe.
Now i have been told it could be aux tensioner or water pump and even the timing tensioner (not sure it the z20 one).
Also been told that chains have been replace because of noisey water pumps and aux tensioners.
The timing chain was replaced at 29k of which was fine but had old jet and that was only 19k ago so should be ok.Was a genuine vx full kit with new jet.
When the chain was replaced the noise was there already but not so intense and was no different with the new chaIn in,it was this noise and no history that made me change it in the first place and was changed by someone who has done loads with no issues.
With the engine only done 48k and oil serviced every 4 - 5k since 24k i would like to rule out either of the chains.
Tonight i am popping the aux belt off to see if it shuts up,if not,is the water pump driven by the chain?
Now im relatively competant with a spanner and did watch the last chain get replaced,is it much more involved to change the balance chain or would it be cheaper and easier to delete them?
Your advice is much appreciated
