Eibach Spring or Cheap Coilvers

Hi, unsure about lowering the Coupe.

I know the Eibach Pro Kit are the highly recommended option but Im worried that a 30mm drop isnt going to be enough for the look I want.
I also want to stiffen up the ride alot but without making it terribly uncomfortable as I know coilovers can bet a little umforgiving.

There is a gap of about 55mm from the tyre to wheel arch and its on 17" Vec C SRi wheels on 215/45 tyres.

Has anyone got any pics of a similar setup using Eibach springs?

Or is anyone using either of the cheap Coilovers available on eBay? Or Jamex?

What about eibach sportline springs? will give you a 50mm drop on the front and 30mm on the rear.

I'm running them in mine with Bilstein B8 shocks and the ride is firm yet comfortable and preformance on the track is great.

There is some scrubbing with 215/45/17 tyres. but the arch gap is minimal. on flat ground there is less than 10mm and on uneven ground they do tuck in.

I know a few people here in aus put in cheap coilovers and went back to factory setup as they just found them unbearable.

Can I use they Sportline Springs on Standard Shocks? I want to get the WhiteLine RARB before changing the Shocks, to see how stiff that makes it.

Has anyone any pics of these different setups?

I had the Eibach Pro kit fitted to my MK4 SXI, and wasn't impressed with the drop. Handling was improved, but you couldn't really tell it was lower.

a lot of ppl on aoc said u need decent shocks for the sportline kit as the drop is too much for standard shocks

so if that is the case then u might as well spend a decent amount on some apex shocks & springs

What was the problem with Standard Shocks with the Sportline Springs? Is it that the Shocks physically cant take the 50mm drop?
I dont really like the ride you get with Coilovers, far too hard especially on Scottish roads. Lol

Issue with standard height shocks are that they don't work in their optimized area of travel. Generally 30mm is the max drop on standard shocks.

From experiance I would do shocks and springs before rear sway.

Handling yes.
Stance would look better dropped another 10mm but my rsb has <80mm ground clearance. so its low enough and with 215/45/17 tyres on turbo wheels can't really go any lower.

I've never had either, but from what I've seen Eibach 30/30 just doesn't drop Astras low enough. The 50/30 option is much better.

I've got Apex 35/35 on standard shocks and I love how the car sits on them. I had Koni 35/35 in the past and they didn't lower that much (pretty much only as much as Eibach 30/30). With Apex the ride is comfortable and body roll reduced (so was with Koni in my previous car), yet people say you need to change both springs and stiffer shocks to reduce bodyroll.. and I can say it's bulls**t, and set of decent lowering springs does the job well :thumbup:

I wouldn't buy coilovers myself though as all people I know who have them say the ride is harsh lol

Ive seen Apex Springs on LMF for £112, they're 40mm lower.
I think I'll get them on Standard Shocks see how they cope.

If you are after Apex then you can get them cheaper on ebay.. I've seen them for £99-104 delivered just recently.

When I look at the serial number of the springs the ones for hatchback & saloon are exactly the same as for Coupe, which is 60-11510. But I don't know why Apex claims that Hatch & Saloon will be dropped by 35/35 while Coupe 40/40 notsure.gif

Eibach is the best brand from what people say. But Apex and Koni are decent, and good value for money imho. I wish they made Eibachs 40/40 for Astras, because 30/30 isn't really enough.
