I bought a saab b207 engine to rebuild and replace my ageing and poorly maintained one, and decided to dismantle the block yesterday.
When I turned the crankshaft with the head off, the liner in cylinder number 4 moved up and down in the cylinder with the piston! I still managed to remove all four pistons and there is no visible damage to either the liner or piston.
I pushed the liner back into the cylinder but if you run a finger over the edge at the top of the block you can feel a very slight lip as it is not completely flush with the block.
Is this something that can be sorted by a decent machine shop or is it scrap? The engine has nearly 100k less on it than mine so I would like to keep it if possible.
