Another CAM CHAIN

**Hi all, this thread is also on other site's so apologise if you see it over and over.

I got advised last night by a ( Friend) mechanic its time to change my chain , I trust this bloke 100% and value his knowledge highly , even more so after the last 2.2 (VEC B Face-lift ) chain engine i had , he advised me to change the chain and the day after he mentioned it , it went 🙁 , i would have him do it , but hes a very very busy mechanic for a taxi firm in Chester, so trying to fit me in is pretty impossible.
so does anyone know any good / honest / reliable mechanics ( ohh and not to expensive lol ) that can fit me in A.S.A.P !
also can anyone recommend me the best chain kit and what ever else i will need please ( or can the mechanic supply these for A 2003 , 2.2 SRI )

I got an FAI kit off Ebay for £115 inc delivery. It came with all the new bolts required and a timing cover gasket.
Only other thing you'll need is a crank pulley bolt.
However, you may have suffered valve damage in which case it's a head off job. A quick fix would be another head off ebay which you can get from anywhere between £75 and £300.
Did the engine have any smoking issues before the chain went??

I would help you out but me being in Scotland is a bit of a trek for us both.

well when i say knocking im not totally sure if it is , or if im just making noises up :S , i think its just the chain :S , when i 1st start the car in the morning its super , super quiet and pers , its only when it gets warmer it starts to make ( what i say is a rattle ) its weird , also it doesn't smoke at all , no matter if ive just started the car , or if i give the car a bit of throttle to work , ect . im off to take it to a bloke who ive just been recommended too when ive rang him to double check everything ..
