paulgrant5555 After checking my car pass to identify which engine i have in vectra 2.2 2004 direct sri i have the engine code z22yg not z22yh .....would this be one of the engines affected by the dodgy jet lubrication to timing chain. I have a slight ticking noise from engine bay and would just like to put my mind at rest car has done 68000 runs very well and i am quite happy with it but did not recieve any service history when i got it many thanks.
rushy Must be a misprint mate, you have a z22yh. The oil jet is fine in the YH, its the tensioners that can play up.
paulgrant5555 thanks for info was little worried love the car honestly i have driven alot of cars ford focus st170 saab 93 2.2 tid vectra b gsi vectra sri 150 ford mondeo sttdci 155 now my vectra 2.2 sri direct and i think for the money its a good enough car shame about some of the reliability issues probably worrying over nothing not that great when it comes to engine knowledge and workings tho can someone give me some info on the tensioners what to listen for tell tale signs etc and is it that common for them to fail car has 68000 on the clock drives very well idles well pulls like a train and on cold start turns over quite smoothly with a little bit of rumble until warm but the only thing thats got me is there a small tit tit tit tit when warm dosent sound that bad just trying to educate myself a little on the engine so that i will be able to maintain it well planning keeping it gor a while also for a big lump the fuel economy cruising at 60 with cruise control is coming back according to the trip computer with wait for it 38.1 im imprerssed?
paulgrant5555 dont have a rattle a cold start but more of a tcking when warm would a cracked manifold or damaged exhaust system at the engine cause this?
