Mk4 Convertible Boot Lock Problem

Hi All,

Can anyone help / advise where I start looking? notsure.gif

I locked my car the other day and for some reason decided to check that the doors and boot were locked. The boot, to my surprise, opened dunno..

Luckily, I managed to lock the boot with the key, but since then I need the key to open it. I've looked in the instruction manual and everything is where it should be and should work with the central locking, except it doesnt seem to open, or seemingly unlock with the central locking, but I can do it manually with the key. I hear the small eletrical sound when opening with the key so it seems that the electrics are still going to the lock, but the central locking system does not seem to be functioning.

For info, the lock is in the horizontal position and should operate with the central locking - according to the manual.

If anyone has any ideas as to what is wrong, where I should start to look or what may need replacing, that would be much appreciated!!! 😃

Hi,

Not sure if you ever solved your problem, but I had the same issue where the boot would only lock and open with the key. My centre break light was also out.

I traced the problem back to 2 or 3 brocken wires on the wiring loom that runs from the boot lid into the side of the left hand side of the car. Relatively easy fix, just pull of the plastic surround and re-solder any broken wires.

Common problem on the Cab i'm told....
