Daz Hmmmm... all you can do is fit the new ones and see if it cures it.... maybe worth checking the arb bushes to see if theres play in them, as they can make a knock/clunk if worn also..... cant see it bein the rear arb in all honesty...
Matt It's bugging the shit out of me. It's a 6 mile drive home from work, and it only did it once on the whole drive home. I can go over pot holes and it won't do it, and then it'll do it going over an undulation in the road
Matt Daz said: Thats normal matt, its the up and down movement when the balls are worn that will give you the knock/clunk.. Just been doing some more reading on AON and AOC. You should be able to move them left and right, but there should be resistance there. There is no resistance what so ever on mine, and they move very easily.
Sjdickso I Had a similar issue on mine, replaced droplinks and ARB bushes and also did track rod ends all in one hit its all tight and no knocks now. I bet the Droplinks will do it otherwise i would go down the ARB bushes.
Matt Cheers Si, droplinks have been shipped, so should hopefully be here tomorrow, so will be fitting them tomorrow night all being well.
Gary14 Mine has a slight knock when you pull away or snap the clutch to replicate the knock, also very slight rumble when going over stoney ground. I have replaced every damm bush componant i can think of to cure the problem. What the fuc% did vauxhall use to put these cars together??? i run a 98 transit with 116000 on the clock and ive only replaced the arb bushes due to them perishing but no knock present.... the vectra has only covered 36000 miles something not right notsure.gif
Matt MikeS said: does the knocking occur on sharp breaking or accelerating ? Nope, it doesn't even do it constantly on the same roads either. Driving to work this morning it did it in different places than yesterday. I'm also going to remove and re-fit the RARB, just in case the bushes are dry.
JohnnyN I've got a clunck that i've been talking to Daz about for a few weeks now. There's play in the end of my tie rods. Must order them then make the journey over for fitting.
Matt I've still not got round to fitting them yet. Got tomorrow off work, so going to get them done in the morning.
Matt Replaced them this morning, had to make a trip to halfords to get a second trolley jack, as it's quite difficult to lift the hub! Also took the rarb off and re greased it, and so far all good....no more knocks Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Matt Sjdickso said: Hopefully that's sorted the issue, did you get the jack at the right price? Was £30 for a 2tonne trolley jack, so not too bad.
Matt Knocking is still there. Is definitely coming from the rear. I'm going to take the RARB off tonight and see if that cures it
Maverick I have just fitted the metal ones. I have a theory as to why I think they are better than the plastic versions. Both my CLK and my Freelander 2 have the metal drop links. We all know what the Land Rovers are designed to do! Time will tell if they are any god, but it all feels tight at the minute!
Daz did you notice the metal ones had a slight bend in them matt... fitted some to a customers car the other week and thought these look diff to the plastic ones(apart from being metal)

Mine weren't the problem on mine in the end, is was the top of the suspension struts which had rusted and were corroded (what you replaced on yours the other day).
