Steve1066 Hi guys. Was after some advise. We've got an astra coupe 53 plate 2.2. Had the car a while now but has developed a intermittent misfire. It started off as only on rare occasions but now is more frequent. It usually happens one the engine has been running for a few minutes and then stops. Car runs and sounds fine apart from this. I'm going to take alook at the coil pack tomorrow but don't know what else it could be. Anyone know what I should be looking for?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Steve.
comet Any sign of the engine management light coming on? When it stops will it restart immediately - or do you have to wait a while?
Steve1066 No eml comes on. If I turn it on and off it's Still the same. But then it'll stop misfiring and be ok! Also this morning I took the coil pack out which looks ok. All the plugs look ok( but fitted new ones anyway). The only thing I noticed was the plug for the coil pack was a little loose but I sorted this. I test drove it and it was ok. But the wife used it earlier and said it started misfireing for a while then stopped. Next thing is maybe the egr valve? Or could it stll be the coil pack?
vocky you could fit a blanking plate to the egr valve, then the coil pack would be the next thing to check
