Is it plummed in? Was just wondering why it was showing positive boost.

yeah its plumbed in ,my mate did all that as hes done them before ,i know bugger all about boost etc ,its all new territory to me ,where should the needle be showing

If the engine is idleing, I'd have thought it should be showing negative as it's running vacuum. Should then only show boost when the engine is under load. I'm sure John can clarify though, but that's how they work on a turbo engine.

so on idle it should register on the numbers below the zero mark ,is that right

ahh right would not being set up propely make a difference on the zero idle

Not to sure jase... as i've not had nothing to do with s/c's.. just from sitting in john car , i can recall his gauge reading zero on idle...... whereas in my coupe being a turbo pulls about 22-25 inhg..

seeing as i cant drive it just yet due to the belt issue,ive now come across another problem which is the water pump for the chargecooler is not working so that will set me back a couple of weeks before i can get a new one .

anyway i thought i'd change the gearbox mount for the new polybushed uprated mount ,took about 45 mins to change as i couldnt quite see which way it went round lol
this will take a lot of the whip out of the engine ,should also be better and quicker off the mark

yes mate i unplugged and put a live and neg feed to my battery and its dead as a dodo

My pump wasn't working for months. Never even realized. I fitted an LED in the glove box to show that it's working.

update on the pulley ,jon from courtenays rung me this morning after talking with someone in germany ,what i need to do is take the belt off and then get a horseshoe shaped piece of wood to go over the nose of the charger and then flush on the back of the pulley ,then i need to tap the pulley out to the required distance ,turning the pulley as well so it gets an equal knocking .
ive also ordered a new belt and a new water pump ,so should be up and running propely for the weekend

probably could if i took the charger off ,jon assured me this way will work best for me ,will be easier and it wont do any lasting damage to the shaft as long as i dont go in heavy handed lol
