with referance to my missfiring problems as posted a mechanic told me these engines have problems with the lifters getting stuck i am not convinced that this is my problem please see previous threads but wondering if it is worth doing a flush dont really wont to as this may cause more problems but as no one else has come up with any other solutions my give this a try please read my other posts on this subject posted in cam chain as i really hoped by fitting the new chains this would of solved my problems but it has not notsure.gif

regular oil changes using genuine 10/40 every 3 months should sort out any sticky lifters

Thanks for the reply i do not think the lifters are causing my problem this is just what a mechanic told me you see the engine runs fine no missfires or i should say it is not running on all cylinders to be more precise it only starts to run badly once you have turned the engine off and allowed to cool for a while then when you restart it no power not firing on all cylinders wait untill cold then runs fine untill you turn it off again

Similar to problem I had. Z22SE. Would start from cold and run perfectly until I stopped for a short time. Then, when re-started, would run fine or a short time then start to misfire badly. Same symptoms you describe.

After replacing spark plugs, crankshaft sensor, coolant water temperature sensor, removing EGR, problem persisted until the ignition coil pack was replaced with a second hand part from scrapyard. No more misfiring.. Second hand cost about 25 GBP which price seems to be the norm in Scotland.

Well what you could do is run engine till it gets warm. switch off and do compression test. If that proves to be ok on all 4 pots the you know its something else.

If you have already replaced coil pack then stick tech 2 on to check sensor readings, see if that shows anything. Could be a number of things thou. Possibles are egr sticking, injector playing up, spark plug breaking down, fuel pressure regulator sticking, etc.

Could this be my problem Fault code p0778 but iam sure this is a code i shoulb ignore on this engine
