flyin_fifer hi jst a newbie on here but here goes...i have a 2001 astra coupe which has lay in my garage for three years it has 78k on it when i parked it up the chain was noisy on startup but apart frm that the car was fine when im goin to start the car it turns over then when u give it throttle itll fire but only runs for a few seconds really lumpy then cuts out ive tried pluggin it in but comes up with no codes it seems to be gettin petrol ok and a spark im jst prayin the timing hasnt jumped any help would be greatly appreciated please.thanks
Gary14 You have answered your own question with regards to the chain being noisy when parked up three years ago and then restarting the engine three years later notsure.gif . The chain has possibly jumped a couple of teeth on the initial start up. Other possible causes, the egr may be stuck, the thottle body in need of a good clean and the whole engine screamimg for some attention :shock:
flyin_fifer thanks its gonna get a load of tlc soon!a mate was sayin to me bout gettin live diagnostics done on it too see whats goin on. i obviously didnt jst go and turn the key i pulled the plugs out etc fresh fuel ive checkd with the code reader and it shows no faults, the plugs are wet aswell and checkd the spark all ok it doesnt sound that its turnin over any faster than normal either
vocky is the eml light flashing when you crank the engine ? if so the immobiliser needs recoding. but also the fuel may have gone off and need changing :thumbup:
