Cam Chain

I have been quoted £850 - £900 to change my cam chains thats parts and labour. And I have been told
it takes a full days labour, But having read some posts on here my quote for the job and the amount
of time it will take seems excessive. I would appreciate if someone could advice if they think the same.

Chains cost me £200 for both and 5 hours of my time, and I am by no means a mechanic. Benny on here does them for a lot less if you do a search

I paid £350 for both chain kits from Vx dealer. It did take me about 6 hours too but that was the first time i had changed them. Now i could do it quicker as i know the routine now. I would estimate 4 hours labour needed. Also im just a DIY'er with a Halfords Advance toolkit 😃

genuine chains are expensive these days but the labour time has not changed, expect it to take no more than 3 or 4 hours depending on whether it's one chain or two being changed. I have changed 20 or so and the longest it ever took was 5 hours due to being lazy :lol:

If a garage reckons it will take all day then go elsewhere :silent:

Took me bout 7 hours but that was including putting the head and manifold/ elec connections bac on!! And smokin bout 30 fags : /
