nikon D3000

hi all

i wont the baove camera in a comp i entered a few months back have used it and must say very impressed. but one thing i think needs improving
is the zoom on it ? has anyone got one or owned one in the past ?

and can anyone recommend a better lense to buy ?

What's your budget for a lense? Does it come with the standard 18-55mm?

I've got a 75-300 zoom lens for my canon , brilliant lens !

For my Nikon, I have a 55-200mm Sigma lens.

yes it comes with the standard lense

would like to spend under £200 one one if i can ?

im going to the masi mara next year for a safari so was just looking for a better lense for better quality and better zoom features so i can
zoom right in on the animals eating etc ?

My 75-300 lens was perfect for catching dolphins jumping about in the sea from a fair distance from a speed boat , only trouble was as soon as we got close I didn't have time to change lens for something that could focus up that close . Question is how close do you recon you'll get to warrant a lens that could be used in both scenarios ( I know that sounds stupid but you don't wanna be wasting time changing lenses cus you might miss that all important shot you'll never forget )

I bought a D3100 not so long back. Very good camera. As a beginner to DSLR's I am finding it very easy to use, but I wish I had invested an extra £150 and brought a D5100, but I may upgrade in a year or 2 tidy..

I'd like to upgrade from my D60, but for what I paid for it originally, it's still not worth an upgrade just yet.
