ECU replacement. What's needed? Have Tech2

I'm considering replacing my ECU in an attempt to beat the bugs that are causing my throttle body problems (see here: https://z22se.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19399), however, I wondered what was required in order to do the swap successfully? I have a 2.2 Astra Coupe, 2003, automatic transmission. I also have access to a Tech2. So my question(s) is this;

With the assistance of TIS, can I use the Tech2 to wipe my existing ECU and reload the stock software, which would cure any software corruption issues, or do I need to replace the ECU altogether with a like for like, and if so what state does it need to be in from the donor vehicle? Does it need to be 'depaired' from donor vehicle and what do I need to do if I fit it to my vehicle?

you will need to pair the immobiliser to the ecu and also possibly change the map to the auto version

I would try and find an automatic z22se ecu and then pair it to your ignition barrel transponder, then delete the old keys and match your current car keys to the new ecu :thumbup:

is it possible to wipe my existing ecu and reload software, will this have the same effect as replacing the whole unit?

if swapping ecu's do you mean pair to my existing immobiliser? finding an auto z22se automatic ecu at short notice is going to be a bit tricky i think so if i can work with my existing set up this would be ace.

if i buy a complete ecu kit with transponder and keys/chips locks etc should this be plug and play in its entirety? will i need to remap everything or is the ecu adaptive e.g. just plug it in and it will work it all out itself (fuel maps etc)?

im not convinced reflashing it will work but its worth a try. it could be part of the board or a driver gone IF it is the ecu.
the ecu will be able to relearn within certain parameters.
i would certainly toy with getting a multimeter out and checking for voltages at the connectors of the tb etc.

been playing some more and the ecu faults arent present any longer, the only one that remains is P0107 so i dont think the ecu is at fault after all, it was probably just complaining after i violated it so much yesterday. will pick up the story on my other thread. am thinking perhaps the map sensor itself needs looking at if its a voltage issue...

Id certainly swap the map sensor as the other fault could caused by this. Do you have outside temp showing on your dash and do you have climate control ?
