After searching the forum for answers on why my 2006 2.2 Direct signum Suddenly has lost power I have come accross 2 possible causes
The car seems to hesitate low down revs and seems to want to cut out (No dashboard lights at all)
If you rev it at standstill it seems to hessitate to rev and just seems like something is wrong even though it sounds ok
POSSIBLE CAUSES
1 Cam chain has slipped a tooth
However wouldnt it run like a bag of spanners and sound rough if it had slipped there has been no noise when engine was turned off and the car sounds no different still quiet and starts ok
2 MAF Sensor failed
I have unplugged the MAf and the car behaves no different so could this be faulty
The fuel pressure regulator has been changed as per recall and the car is covered by a mechanical warranty (unless they have a get out clause but i cant get the car looked at till tuesday and its doing my head in
ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED
What would be the symptoms of a chain that had slipped a couple of teeth
its also been mentioned elsewhere that the fuel pump might be faulty (would there not be a light on the dash if this was the case)
Thanks in advance
