Bike Rear Hub

Stripped the hub down myself this evening after getting home from work, and there is hardly any grease on the cassette side, which will explain why it's grinding like a good one.

Should Almost be full Matt. Mine get stripped down once a year for a full clean out and relube.

Yeah, I'm going to take it back in tomorrow and get them to strip it all out and possibly replace the bearings as well.

Wheel has been dropped off this morning to get it sorted.

Just had a call to say it's ready for collection.

It's had new axle, bearings and cones fitted.

Well I'm back on the bike again! :thumbup:

Have to say, I'm very pleased with the service I've had from the guys @ Halfords. They made sure everything was set up properly again for me when the wheel was re-fitted, and it's nice and smooth again.

Was also my first ride to work in the dark this morning (set off at 05:15), and I'll need to get some better lights if I continue to cycle into the winter months

Got a new lock as well, as the one I was using doesn't cover the value of the bike with my insurance policy, so went for a Kryptonite D-Lock with 4 foot cable.

I've been using bike torches, I have one on the handle bars and one on my helmet, there mental for the price, works out far far cheaper then the equivalent Lumen proper bike lights.

Matt, one of my mates is well into his bikes at the moment. You should ckeck out what he is riding on my Facebook friends list. Michael Owens, he just dislocated his shoulder the other week falling from his bike at 30mph :crazy:

Did my first proper winter ride to work this morning, defo need better lights now. I've also put the semi slick tyres on for the winter, as I don't fancy sliding down the road on my arse.

Lights have turned up. Good job as well, as it was rather dark and foggy this morning at 6am coming to work.

That's pretty good service. I had a older set of cat eyes some years ago and was always good.

Yeah, can't fault wiggle at all. Lights are on the bike ready for the morning. Didn't need them on the way home as it was still light.
