The above component is a capacitor (usually used as a suppressor) not sure what it suppresses as have not got electrical drawings but have had mine running without it for ages before replacing it (well repairing it by cutting the wire back inside the component slightly and soldering the original one back on).
The earth strap (the main one) does need connecting for engine to run..
The blown fuse if you supply the ident number ie fuse 10 check in your hand book it will tell you which circuit it protects i would not go changing fuses to higher rating ones to cure the problem as this may cause your wiring/component to burn out or cause a fire (assuming the 20 amp fuse was correct in the first place your handbook or haines manual will tell you the correct size) if its blowing fuses you have a problem obviously with that circuit you need to find the cause of the fault
hi thanks for that i put the wire back onto it last nite and it blown to 40A fuse and heated up the wire going to it so taken it off (put 30A fuse in that's all i had at time and car work) if its only a suppressor i can get one from halfords then cant i, going to halfords for me for some 20A fuses later,
just had a look at this fuse and its fuse 6 in the black box at the back of battery there is only 6 fuses in there few 60A and 1 yellow 20A its that one that`s blown and it only blown when i brake that wire
there was also no fuel pump last nite till i put new fuse in it
