Finally, got my new bike!

After months of searching and changing my mind all the time I finally got my new bike tonight. I purchased it through the Bike to Work scheme that we have running. Initially I chose the Giant Talon 0. Because I left it so long before putting the order in, the bike is now obsolete and the 2012 model is in production but not due for release for another 6 weeks.

The Talon was £950. The Giant dealer offered me an upgrade to the Giant xtc 2 which was £1295 but with a 20% discount bought it back down to just over £1k give or take a few £££'s. So I agreed and paid the extra. It feels a nice ride so i'll be out and about on it this weekend. I've got a wireless speedo and lights and a tinky bell for it. :lol:

It feels very light too.

i was gonna buy another bike using bike2work scheme but i am not sure how it works considering i got 2 other bikes

Yeah, there are about 6 of us going to enter the London Triathlon next September, so I'd need one for then. I'm not in any particular rush at the minute, with Winter not long off, but need something for next year (I'm just an impatient bugger!).

I had to run into work this morning because my Carrera is off the road :-(

How has the axel bent? Is it just down to wear & tear?

I've no idea. I've had it 4 months and just covered 700km on it going to and from work, with the occasional weekend ride thrown in. I personally just it's just the bearings that are warn due to lack of grease. I did ride it in the heavy rain on Wednesday, so it could have washed some of the crud into the bearings also.

Sounds like wear and tear / just one of those things, i used to get through bottom brackets on my stumpjumper every month or so, least it isnt mega bucks to replace although it may well be worth trying to get it done under warranty.

quite common as most of the power goes through rear hub

use wiggle etc for parts 🙂

also get some ceramic lube as this stuff is good

how do you ride it without pedals matt lol

If you're serious about your riding, they now offer titanium inserts that you can have screwed into your ankle joints. It has to be done on private health care though due to the cost.
