Hi,
I have just bought a 56 plate 2.2 direct and it won't start.
I identified that it had the recall regulator and fuel pump so have changed both but it still won't start.
It tries to fire on the first crank but doesn't then won't refire - as if flooded.
I had it towed to a Vx dealer where they ran diagnostics and compression check. Diagnostics came back ok? and the compression is 90 on each cylinder rather than the required 150-180.
They think it is due to a worn chain/tensioner which is putting the timing out while another mchanic thinks the compression is too low and that the valves/guides are sticking.
The car has 87k miles and I do not know/doubt if the chain has been replaced. Also, jusging by the muk in the rocker cover teh engine hasn't been flushed for a while.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Shane
