egr valve

hi my 2002 astra 2.2 coupe is running rough.com!! I've changed plugs and coil pack and it still runs crap. its got quite a lumpy tick over, and sometime cuts out :thumbdown:
anyways I've chatted with a fellow astra owner who has the same z22se engine, and he says i can REMOVE the EGR valve, and stick a blanking plate over it!! and that should sort it?? Anyone else tried it?? :crazy:

yer m8 done it on my veccy( z22se) make a blanking plate then with 1 bolt (i used right as u lookin at it) fasten egr back with a angle so it can still work make sense???

But if the valve is faulty this will not remedy the rough running. Purchase the blanking plate and plug in egr cheater from the club shop. Should sort your problem :thumbup:

if u remove and blank off egr , how can the device still make the engine run ruff as u are removing the problem notsure.gif

the duff egr valve will still cause an EML :thumbdown:

ok i took it to a garage and had the car plugged into diagnostic, result was faulty egr valve!! the garage fitted a tested used part at no cost to me just to make sure it would fix the rough running, and it did ....for 1 day!!! I'm back to rough running and lumpy tick over now! other jobs that have been tried are clean out throttle body, spark plugs, clean air flow metre etc.... all failed to fix problem, i know if i go back to the garage it will say egr failior again!! One thing to note is the car drives bob on when cold.... it starts instantly, when the engines warm it turns over for a while before it starts!! so ....Any other ideas guys????
