Me and my wife are going for a trip by car. We've done that 7-8 times with Astra Mk4 SXI (Z16XE). But I'm still new to Z22SE and this will be our first trip.
Basically we will be traveling 1100 miles in 17-20 hours. We will take it easy through England, France, Belgium and Holland and will be traveling up to 80mph. Through Germany and Poland we will be traveling almost constantly at 100mph+ speeds for 500-600 miles (except for 30 minute breaks for petrol, sandwich and loo).
Will aluminum engine melt? haha. No more seriously.. will 5W40 oil be sufficient or should I go for something higher viscosity i.e. 10W-50?
Old Astra Z16XE was driven in the same way many times on Vauxhall 10W-40 mineral oil.. it was drinking some oil during the trip.. roughly 0.6-0.7 litre (where normally it was 0.2 or so). I'm not denying that there were moments where I was hitting the limiter for both speed and rpm :lol:
