Can anybody point me in right direction? I have **2001 zafira 2.2 petrol **with running issues and now starting problems.
I had valve stem seals etc replaced approx 300 miles ago due to smoking issues and this solved the problem although had slight irregular missfire. i drove the car and missfire only noticeable at slower speeds (motorway ok). I drove 120miles round trip with no problems and then parked car up, went out an hour later drove 200 yards and engine lost all power and could not pull away or tick over on its own, (this is where the problem starts) turned engine over finally got it started but just wanted to cut out so put full throttle and revs went up to 4000rpm and died off, still had full throttle pressed and then it picked up again to say 4000rpm and died again and continued doing this until full revs were achieved and seemed ok so let go throttle and guess what? it died. turned over again and hey presto car was running again although engine light was now on. i then drove the car as it was causing an obstruction on busy intersection and drove for approx 1 mile and same thing happened so had vehicle recovered. its been sat at the garage now 3 weeks with no idea where to start (electrical/mechanical) and every so often car will start and be able to be moved but then dies again? everybody has said EGR valve??? try this sensor that sensor etc personally i suspected timing issues but was told it would not run ok sometimes and then not run others. If anybody can help please do........
