Just bought 100 cell sport cat..... what can I expect?

Hi,

I just bought a stainless stell downpipe and 100 cell sports cat for my z22se.

Still to be delivered or fitted but was just wondering what I could expect in terms of:

Performance increase
Possible EML light coming on
Popping?

At the moment I have piper fast road cams, ported TB and remap, exhaust is totally standard for now

Any pointers would be great

100 cpi cat? didnt know you could get 1. Well my 200cpi cat has got some gains and does pass the MOT. No EML either. If that is anything to go by.

Was informed the other day that a 100cpi will pass the mot, (news to me) as the nurburg edition vxr has one from standard.....

Thats shocking! If you buy a 200cpi cat from an exhaust place they make you sign a waiver that you dont use it on the road.

Well the guy I bought it off said it had not tripped the EML light but I guess each car is different

Heard I might get popping which I'm not too keen on??

and they do fail the MOT unless the car is given a good thrashing before hand, and they bring the EML light on.

As Matt says it is very comon for Burgs to fail MOT with the 100 cpi cat. I have a 200 in mine and emissions are on the limit if it goes in cold.

I would say you will deff get a eml pop up, i would imagine you will get some popping. I get mine to pop between gear chnages if you give it the beans.

I thought i dropped torques when i had a 200 fitted but it reved alot easier.

It would be interesting to see weather a 100 cell would go through an mot. And as said already you will get a p0420 code i think every so often unless you take the rear lambda out of the direct flow of gasses.

The other way to do it if you have the space is run two 100cells one at the front and one near the back dunno..

I recently learned that some wrc cars have the cat as close to the rear as possible where it has the leased restriction not sure how corect that is but it made sense.

fault code is possible and mot faliure is bound to happen unless its red hot.

look where the cat is on the corsa b 1.4 engines - closer to the rear box than the manifold

Just a quick question......... I'm thinking of getting lambda cheats just in case the EML comes on.......so I have 1 or 2 lamda sensors?

you have 2 lambda sensors ,not sure weather you need them for both or one im sure someone will verify

front lambda is for mixture - fueling

second lambda is to protect cat and throw up annoying fault codes

second lambda can be replaced by cheater or be the subject of other mods - also some mappers can completely remove it by programming the ecu to ignore the sensor

The Nurburgring Astra has a Remus 200 cell cat. Well thats what they told me when I was at 888 when they were swapping the exhausts on the Burgs.
