Well as you may know I bought myself a 2.2 Astra. I have only had it a few days now and noticed the water level was too high in the cooling bottle, so I decided to let some out. After I did that I decided to check the oil level. That also had too much in  . I drained some out and checked the levels, and all is good again 😛 . Having too much oil in your engine is not good for it. The oil pump can't cope with all the extra oil flowing about. Mine was over the max mark and more  . My car has full service history, so Vauxhall must had made this balls up. Would this have made my tappets rattle a little when I first start her up? The noise went away in a second and back to normal
