Would like to avoid another cam chain going...what can I do?

After having been the victim of a camchain failure on my last z22se, which had done about 150,000 miles before it went, I have bought another one, this time with just 40,000 on the clock.

Is there anything I can do to prevent the camchain from going again? Apart from checking the oil every hour of course. I really would like to make sure this one gets more tlc than I gave the last one. The last one did last though. She went everywhere with me, as far as Italy, and I took her on the Cannonball Run Europe.....so she did well to be fair...

You've answered your own question. Lots of TLC. Regular oil changes/services etc. Regular cleaning etc for example when changing brake pads clean the whole caliper and so forth. :thumbup:

P.S. Tinkering can be bad as well as good like i find out sometimes 😃

bite the bullet and fit a new chain kit if you are that worried about it, then keep an eye on the oil and with regular oil changes you should get 150k out of this one too 😃

Based on my experience, i'll be changing my chain kit every 60k max. After all, £180 for over 3 years worry free motoring cant be bad methinks.
