The subframe front bushes are recesed into the subframe and can be pulled up with a decent size washer.
There is actualy a repair washer that can be purchased from vx for a couple of quid and apparently is a permenant fix.
Quite a few of the guys on vvoc have used them and could probably provide a part number.
If you do it tho do both front bushes and have your tracking checked after as it pulls the geo about a bit.
I think th cylindrical bush you mention is the gearbox mount to subframe.
