The only way I could get the instrument panel out was to remove the wheel, column shrouds and the facia so I had to remove the steering wheel to do all that.
I turned the key in the ignition while the wheel was off and the airbag disconnected so I'm hoping that's the cause of the light coming on.
I'm going to try and get a diagnostics machine on in tomorrow at a local garage to see if it is a sensor fault or if the code just needs to be reset. If I have to replace this rotary coupling, is it a relatively straight forward job? If it is just that I've turned the key with the airbag disconnected, they should be able to just reset the code right?
WOuld have thought the Haynes manual would have been a bit more specific than "assembly is the reverse of dismantling" for something like this!
