none starter

hi guys, ive got a bit of a problem, just fitted a new clutch, but when ive come to start the car it started and ran for 30 seconds and made a screach and cut out, now when i try to start it again, it sounds like the starter is jammed and also my battery is dieing, but battery was fully charged before i removed it, anyone any ideas please, thanks.

take the gear box off sounds like the flywheel is unable to move....... notsure.gif

just gotta hope you havent made a huge mess of the clutch plate and housing, splined shafts, release bearing etc

or if your really lucky its a shitty earth somewhere, but that screach your on about doesnt sound like good news

i think we put clutch in wrong way, my mate drop the old 1 when we were taking it out, so i think weve put it in wrong side faceing flywheel, what a mess. notsure.gif

is it not identical both sides??? notsure.gif im fairly sure mine was cant remember off hand

no, in the middle of the clutch were the splines are, the is one side that sticks out longer than other, i put that faceing gearbox and the shorter end faceing flywheel, thats the way i thought it went, but something wrong because just bled my clutch and the gears are quite hard to select

yep that makes sense now. you are probably right, gonna have to whip the subframe out and find the damage im afraid :shock:

yes thats what i was afraid off, back to the beginning, just hope the cheap clutch kit i got for £150 isnt the cause off it

fingers crossed for you mate!
as long as nothing too tragic has happened there shouldnt be a lot to replace, id whip your starter off first and make sure it aint mullered, you could peer in and check what you can see of the ring gear.

How you descibe fitting the clutch seems to be the correct way

well i listened to everyone and fitted the clutch flat side to flywheel, guess what, it was wrong way, naff my bearing completely, bought a new clutch with the markings on and it said flat side to gearbox, and thats what i did and im now back on road, what a buzz. :thumbup:
