sweety The emmission light (engine shaped light?) came on again last night (3rd time) on my 02 Astra coupe. When it comes on it stops on unless I disconnect the battery to reset the ECU which clears it. It works out it's showing up about every 2-3 weeks & after about 200-280 miles. I've tried the pedal test a few times but the light never flashes to show the fault code, popped to a friends & plugged in his code reader but for some reason it didn't want to work on my car (worked fine on his mother inlaws Corsa C) I've removed & cleaned the EGR valve the last time the light came on. The light never comes on when driving but only when I pull up at a junction etc & the engine is idling. The engine seems to run ok & i'm not sure if the performance has dropped any but i'm still getting used to the car but have notice the rev counter does flicker very slightly if that's linked to anything. I was wondering if there are any common cause & anything I can clean up to see if it stops off before having to go to VX to get the codes read as money is very tight at the min
sweety Well the light has just came on again :x would removing the front lamba censor & giving it a good clean be worth while
solorider my cabby has been doing the same, and mine is caused by the egr valve which is blanked off,my code reader wont work either but opcom will read the codes and the pedal test will not do nothing on my car either
ZippyZafira sounds like the eact problem with mine. I also pulling my hair out o what it could be. does you car also seem to shutter when acclerating at low revs after changing gears?
sweety No mine seems to pull ok maybe a very little bit less power but that could be me as I know the light has came on  TBH i'm waiting for it to come on again as it's been about 3 weeks since it last showed up but since it last lit up i've done a lot more motorway driving & given the engine a good work out
