oil filter housing tightening method?

this might have been queried before but i couldnt find a definitive answer...

i've undertaken a service on the car today (2.2 astra) and i've struggled a bit with the oil filter housing. it's in a really awkward place and difficult to get a ratchet or spanner on it to tighten it to the required 25Nm. anyway, i've hamfisted the thing as tight as i can but when the motor is running its seeping oil from the seal. this might suggest that i havent tightened it enough, but i cant get a torque wrench on it. how do you lot manage, is there a tried and tested way, it seems to be in the most stupid position with no clear access (even with battery removed). thanks.

I've got a ₅" breaker bar thats just the right size to use with a socket.

Should have enough space if you use a low profile socket, if it's still leaking then try replacing the seal

i have a vortex socket set that is ideal for the oil filter

U need the correct 32mm slim line socket with a 12" extension on to a rachet all 3/8 drive

aha! thanks for the advice chaps! i did put a 32mm socket on there but it was one of the big buggers and there's no way i could get a ratchet down there... will order the tool you mention (although found it cheaper here for anyone else reading this thread: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180672405503 :thumbup: )
