SAAB vs z22se

Hi,

i've been reading alot in here about guys moving the head from a SAAB engine.
My question is as such that since I'm looking towards maybe repairing the engine due to running on 0 oil.
Is the SAAB engine a possible donor for crankshaft etc?

A z22se sets me back around £1000 while I can find a "low" mileage SAAB engine for around £300.

I forgot to mention that I live in Sweden.
So if I'm able to use parts from any SAAB engine it would for sure make it easier since there are a LOT more SAABs than z22se engines around 🙂

crank sensor trigger wheel is different so not a direct swap with the standard ecu :thumbdown:

too bad.

I guess I'll have to find a used crank. grinding the crank will set me back £250 + addidtional costs for oversized bearings.
I don't know if you've seen the pics of the crank in my rattle over 2000 rpm thread.
What kind of mileage do you think I can get if I only change the bearings?

Amazing how much one learns from a simple mistake.

Anyway the engine is almost stripped down. Is it easier to get it from top or lower it?

It has been using a lot of oil. Is there any known reason for this that I can check/fix whilst the engine is out?
