Record time depends on the card and battery.
Battery I find that it gets around 2 - 2.5 hours recording in full hi def.
As for card, I run an 8gig in mine and i've never filled it on a trip. Think the most I have done was around 4 gig in one day (on highest setting)
Its also not just for cars. It is more of an adventure cam though. It comes with a full water proof housing as well. Has a very large range of mounts so you can stick it anywhere. But compared to a conventional camera, it might not cut it for you. As i said earlier i love mine and it goes everywhere with me.
