All of them suffer the same problems John, but only the Signum and the Vectra C Estate have the DPF fitted.

Chain. It's the same engine mate.

Yep, the yh/direct just has a different head and inlet manifold more or less.

The "direct" part means direct fuel injection mate. The oil jet is fine but the failior part is the tensioner. The fix is to fit the z20net tensioner from the Vec c 2.0t. It's a direct replacement.

thanks for the info well i think i may look for a turbo sri petrol but only have 3k budget so may end up with a 2.2 petrol sri direct.

are the 2.2 hard to tune like the z22se ?

the usual stuff like exhaust manifold, exhaust, air filter, but you cant mess with the inlet manifold, I dont believe there are any cams out there. I think Vocky and the Dr use some parts to make there engines as the bottom end is stronger and the compression is different as well.

TBH mate, I just think its a case that there's no call to tune them so there has been no development done.

ahh right was hoping to tune and get around the 170/180 but does not look like an option.
may have to rethink a 2.2 then ? or even look at somthing else but only have a 3k max budget

There is a host of tuning products for the 2.2 goto z22se.co.uk and read away. Both courtenay and regal do tuning parts for it. Cams are readily available. And you can modify the intake etc

Just get a z22se and get a 2.4 inlet manifold ...240BHP straight away ! HA HA HA :clap:

we are on z22se ? and i take you mean there are plenty of mods that can be done to a vec b ? im looking at a vec c

Does anyone know much about the 2.0T vectras ? i have been looking at a couple they are a 2003/4 with about 60k on them for around £2500
is this a good price anything to look out for ? are these train driven ?

Si.c1978 has this engine in his Astra G and Mark dj used to have a 2.0t Vectra C.
It's the same block as the Z22SE so chain driven, but it has a shorter stroke to give it 2.0 instead of 2.2. It's Saab engineered and comes already fitted with the Saab head that the doc and Vocky fit to there cars.
It's the most reliable engine in the Vectra C and doesnt suffer from the chain problems of the SE and YH. Many make 200+ with just a map and the later ones have seen 220 (different turbo).
The current tuner of choice with the chaps on the Vec c forum is Neo bros, using Maptune software.
