Possible crank sensor problems?

I have a 2007 L61, it uses the hall effect sensor for crank position. I am in the process of fitting a standalone ECU to the motor, I am having trouble with the signal from the position sensor. The 5v pulse is working correctly, however, when I get the motor to fire it seems that the signal from the position sensor is going bad. The ecu will have trouble keeping timing. Has anyone had any issues with these sensors? Is there any kind of adjustment possible on them?

depends which trigger wheel it has, in the UK it would be the 60-2 on a 2007, but usually it's the 5+2 version on the older engines

the sensor is quite good and rarely goes bad, no adjustment possible

You have a HAll effect (3 wires) or a VR type sensor (2 wires)? Quite a difference...

Its a hall effect. Its a 2007 with the 60-2 ring. It appears that when more than one of the coil on plugs is firing, in a wasted spark configuration, there is a lot of interference, causing errors on the crank sensor input.

i have just got over similar problems, (except my coil pack fully blew after a modification to my loom went wrong)

what aftermarket ecu are you running? what coil pack are you using/where does it live in relation to the ecu and loom?

i have recently gone against recommended megasquirt setup, as i believe a gutted z22se coil pack is far superior.
i was expierienceing random missfires and spikes in my maps because of a very noisy ford edis heap of shit coil!

i believe mine is a vr setup,(2 wires) now the only issue i get is a bad signal if it drops below 900revs i suspect that is a rising/falling edge/tooth reading issue.

At low rpm's a VR will give a very weak signal. Maybe changing the sensor distance helps.
(Saw some VR signal boosters on the net for abs sensors; might be a solution)
