How much to fit Z22YH engine?

I have found a Z22YH engine for my Vectra. I am trying to find out how much it should cost to fit the engine? I have had a timing and balancing chain fitted to my old engine that I would like removed and put on the new engine. Problem is my car is dead at home and the engine is some 30 miles away.

I have been quoted £400 by the garage that did the chains. Can I do better?

£400 to swap engines is a good price :thumbup:

I always say you go to the same place if your happy with what they have done weather it be a garage or a barbers .... You know what your getting . If you go somewhere else can you trust what they do .

5 hours to remove and install ..thats not including chains and gearbox swaps ..

but fitting gearboxes and chains whilst the engine is out is effortless ...

i would be happy to pay £200 for a simple in and out job ..
but if you getting chains swapped over and gearbox plus oils and stuff .. and the car running £400 isnt to bad
