Bloody Car Alarms (Again)

I had a problem with the alarm on my astra recently, did a few searches and decided upon replacing the internal batteries of the power sender. Fitted this back up a few weeks ago and since then and until today the alarm has not gone off, albeit a few times I heard 3 beeps after locking the car.

Today the power sender has gone off a few times, I thought it could be the car battery as I haven't used the car for a couple of weeks whilst I've had use of another vehicle, so I took it for a blast up the motorway, a good 20 mile trip, these seems to have charged the car battery which was slow initially starting after 2 weeks.

I locked the car back up on the drive and within a minute the power sender is going off again.

Whilst setting the alarm the red LED flashes fast for 10 seconds then starts blinking slowly, according to the owners manual this is indicating a fault?

Any ideas, I'm really loosing my patience and my neighbours will no doubt be knocking my door down later tonight.

you may have another fault with the alarm system, the only way is to diagnose it via a tech2 or OP-COM.

I had the same problem as you, the only way was to buy another unit which i got from Autovaux for about £66 delivered

Any idea what a dealer would charge to hook up to diagnostics?

if its anything like the power sounders on the vectras ,it might be worth disconnecting it and leaving it like that as they do have a habit of going of on there own ,some have been known to catch fire ,which can and has resulted in a burnt out car.
you will still have your alarm ,the power sounder is used as a back up if the main alarm cable to the battery is cut

Big thing on this over on VVOC recently. Lots of units removed and binned. An ST200 very nearly became a burnt out shell.

Dealer is usually an hours labour to hook it up to tech2, so anywhere upto £85

I did remove the power sender and try triggering the alarm by putting my arm through the window but the alrm would not sound, it just sets off the hazards.

Any idea what the 3 beeps could be when locking the car?

Are there others whose can diagnose apart from the dealer, don't really want to be spending £85! plus whatevers wrong with it.

There is a problem with the alarm system i would of thought possibly the power sounder

Yeah if anyone is near you with an OP-COM device.
