smell of petrol in the car, and lack of power when@ high spd

hi, wondering if someone could help. i have a 2,2 astra coupe, when i drive with the windows open i get a smell of petrol in the car any ideas?? iv had the fuel filter changed last service aswel, stopped the smell for a while.. but now its there again.

2nd issue.... when im on the motorway at around 80mph for example... if i come off the power and the go back on... it seems like there is a delay in the cars reaction (response) compared to few months ago. any ideas wht could be causing this???

first get the car running and check the fuel lines - work your way from tank to the front of the car

then inside the engine bay you have 2 pipes going to the fuel rail so check that - also check the fuel pressure regulator is not leaking also

usually smell of fuel inside cabin comes from leaking exhaust manifold

I had the smell of fuel in mine when i had the windows open, it turned out to be my fuel cap wasnt tightening up enough! I got one from the scrappy problem solved! :thumbup:

thanks for ur replys,... iv had the car mot'd 2day, if there was a crack in manifold would they have picked up on it?? as they didnt mention anything. plus it passed the emissions test aswel (dunno if it would hav effected that!lol ) il check the fuel lines, i dont seem 2 be loosing petrol quick though and plus when i park there is never any fluid under the car, il check the fuel rail. as for the petrol cap i dont think on this occasion it is that, but defo sumthing quick n easy 2 check so thanks.

My car passed its MOT with a massive crack in the manifold, whip the heatshield off and have a look - should be a 5 minute job

cool, will hav a look. thanks, any ideas about the power?? its hard 2 describe, but when u come off the power at high revs n then go back on its like a delay and then a sort of jerk when it gets going again, do u think it could b an engine mount or sumthin???
