I have been a owner of a holden zafira here in AU for many years and must say it has been the best family car EVER.. Without notice all of a sudden i got a rattle in the engine and had no idea what it was so i keept driving. Fair enough i found out a few days later what it was after i lost compression in cylinder 3 "timing chain gone"
Got some quotes to get the car fixed and all were $4000-$6000.
The night before i was about to get it toes to the local mechanic i thought to myself that i would have a look around online and see what i can get as buying just anouther Zafira. That night a newly listed Holden Zafira appeared at a online car trading site at a extremly low price of $4450 :wtf: and it had alloy wheels and new tyres and a whole lot of other stuff. Anyway i called the seller and i was luckey enough to be the first guy to call as it was just listed.
I offeded the guy a $500 deposit to hold the car depending a few inspections. The car was located a good 1200KLM away from my house so i had to arrange an inspection over the phone a a local mecahnic near where the car was for sale. A few days later the car was inspected and all was great except a few very minor things like blown tail light, and blown fuse but mechanically and cosmetically the car was awsome in fact the inspector couldn't believe the deal i was also getting as the normally sell for around $9000 in the condition it was in.
So i made arrangments to buy the car. I booked a flight and flew to the desination was where the car was and drove it home.. My first thoughts were after reading stuff on this site im going to get the timming chain done even though it has no rattle. so i begain buy ordering the chains online " better to get in early with these cars"
Its been a week now since i purchased the car and i gave the TB a good clean out and it drives PERFECTLY that is untill yesterday. I needed to drive to Brissie which is about 100klm from where i lived and i jumped in th car and started to head to Brissie. I got about 3/4 of the way there when the car died...
Guess what the problem was.................................... CHAIN BROKE????
Cant believe it i now have 2 of these that have got the same problem and no $$ left to fix them 🙁 I will have new chains arriving here soon but now the heads are stuffed
