Damaged Astra

My brothers wife was hit by a motor bike the other day. The lad on the motor bike was not insured and fled the scene. Now they are left with the damage to sort out themselfs. What should they do? Go through her insurance or get it fixed at some garage? It's a Mk4 Astra 1.6. Pics below...

That's not going to be a cheap fix insurance companys may even write it off due to the age .

get a new rear door and dont got through insurance!

If you get a new door you will have a
Massive vent at the bottom, the sill needs pulling out and that's not cheap 🙁

Let alone the rear quarter panel and the roof .

I would agree that is a write off too. Whole rear quarter, new door, roof is bent and the sill frame. Its dead Jim!

My Dad recently reversed into our Zafira with his tow bar. Rear door, repair subtle dent and paint, sill frame pull out and paint. £600 cash. That little lot you have there is well in excess of that.

What surprises me is that the bike which hit the Astra was still in one piece.

That was some serious impact.. I bet his forks must be f00ked.

The biker had a female passenger on with him, she went to hospital but was then let out as she was ok. The driver of the bike ran off and left her at the scene. My brothers wife wants to fix the car and keep it away from the insurance :crazy:

A guy I know crashed his bike with a bird on the back , completely stacked it his legs were broken she was
More or less out of it , he felt bad and proposed to her .....year later divorced

But regarding the astra that's going to cost a pretty penny at least a grand to fix it all .

They have certainly done a number on that! I presume the police were involved? Have they checked the local hospitals for anyone reporting injuries?

Yes the bike was left at the scene, the police went to the hospital with the girl but she would not say who was driving the bike, something like that. My brothers wife is getting someone to look at the car and get a price on it, she even thinks that door can be repaired :crazy: . I will let them get on with it :buffer

thats a write off the chassis at the bottom is bent and roof damage too tbh its not worth it be cheaper to buy another astra,.

lol chassis bent !?!?!? , no its not .... the sill will repair so will the roof and the quarter and a second hand door will cost £20-£25 the sill cover will want checking and new clips ordering for it but after all that its quite a simple repair, i do them every day like that at work , but yes if the insureance were involved it would be a write off
