spanner size for holding cams

hi..

downloaded the step by step from this site to change the timing chain.
got everything with regard to tools apart from the guage to hold the cams still and the spanner size for holding same cams.

can anyone tell me the size of said spanner and what have people used to hold the cams

the hex on the cams is 24mm
so
24mm spanner
but if desperate a 1 inch spanner will fit
